FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY PATIENTS AND PROVIDERS

Q: Is the PATH Clinic connected to HPD or Child Welfare Services? 
A: No, the PATH Clinic is not associated with HPD or CPS. The clinic is not required to report substance use to HPD or CPS.

Q: Do I have to be pregnant to receive services?
A: No, the PATH Clinic provides post-partum care and gynecological care.

Q: Do I need to currently be using drugs or alcohol to receive services?
A: No, the PATH Clinic welcomes women with past history of substance use who are at risk for a relapse or hesitant to receive services elsewhere.

Q: Do I need medical insurance?
A: No. The PATH Clinic will assist women without medical insurance to sign up for QUEST insurance. The PATH Clinic will also provide services to those who do not qualify for QUEST.

Q: Do you provide birth control counseling?
A: Yes, Dr. Wright will discuss birth control options and issues with patients.

Q: Is Implanon insertion available at the clinic?
A: Yes, Implanon insertion procedure is conducted at the PATH Clinic by Dr. Wright.

Q: Is childcare available?
A: Yes, childcare will be available at the clinic when patients are in appointments with the doctor or social worker.

Q: Do I need to be referred to the clinic?
A: No. The clinic accepts women without a referral from another organization. Simply call the clinic to schedule an appointment.

Q: Are you a substance abuse treatment program?
A: No. The PATH Clinic offers support to women struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction or maintaining their recovery through counseling, a voluntary weekly relapse prevention class, and peer support. The PATH Clinic also makes referrals to substance abuse treatment programs as requested by the patient.

Q: Are you Women’s Way or Salvation Army?
A: No, the PATH Clinic is located on the campus of Salvation Army’s Family Treatment Services, but we are independent of Salvation Army and Women’s Way.

Q: What if I have difficulty with transportation and cannot get to the PATH Clinic?
A: Transportation assistance can be worked out with the clinic social worker. Call the clinic social worker for details. Transportation is never a barrier for services.

Q: Where will my baby be delivered?
A: The PATH Clinic patients will go to Kapiolani Medical Center for delivery. Their babies will be delivered by either Dr. Wright or an OB/GYN from her team.

Q: How do providers make referrals to the clinic?
A: Call the clinic and speak to the social worker, Julia or nurse manager, Renee.

Q: How are you funded?
A: We are funded through money from the Hawaii State Legislature.  When possible, we bill insurances for the clinical services provided at the clinic.
