About Founder and Director – Tricia Wright, MD
Dr Tricia Wright, founder and medical director of the clinic, cares about improving the care of women struggling with addiction because she has seen first-hand the harmful effects on women, children, and families. She is concerned that the medical profession tends to see the addiction first and the person second. By providing the right support in a respectful way, Dr Wright believes the clinic serves as a safe place in which a woman with an addiction can find her own unique path to health and capable parenting. Dr Wright describes the PATH Clinic as a "place where a woman can come for prenatal care, help with her addiction, childcare, and other important support activities all in one location. By providing transportation assistance and services that meet her needs, we communicate that we care about her health and that we understand that her life is not easy. Women tell us that they feel safe and comfortable in the clinic because it is small and they see the same welcoming staff each time they visit. Since the PATH Clinic opened in April 2007, we have seen many women realize their potential as terrific mothers and healthy contributing members of our community."
